🚨 Thursday Twist: Liverpool Closing in on Premier League Defender

Liverpool appear to be stepping up their efforts to land a new central defender, with reports suggesting a deal for Marc Guehi is edging closer. This development comes amid strong speculation that Jarell Quansah is nearing a move to Bayer Leverkusen.

As per reliable sources, negotiations have progressed significantly for the 24-year-old England international, who has emerged as a priority target for the Reds. Initial contact was reportedly made earlier this year, and things are now heating up.

The Crystal Palace skipper, who played a key role in his club’s FA Cup victory and England’s impressive run at Euro 2024, is entering the final 12 months of his contract. With no signs of an extension, his exit from South London seems increasingly likely.

Guehi is said to be keen on securing regular top-flight minutes to cement his place in Gareth Southgate’s plans ahead of the 2026 World Cup—and Liverpool could be the perfect destination.

Why Guehi Fits the Plan 🔴

Arne Slot appears to be targeting players with both Premier League experience and leadership qualities, and Guehi ticks all the boxes. At just 24, his composure, physicality, and vision from the back make him a strong candidate to lead the next era of Liverpool’s defense.

With Quansah likely heading to Leverkusen for a fee in the region of €30 million plus add-ons, Liverpool could redirect those funds toward Guehi—though Palace are expected to drive a hard bargain due to Chelsea’s 20% sell-on clause from his previous transfer.

If a deal is struck in the £40–45 million range, many at Anfield would view it as solid value for a player of his calibre.

The Rebuild Gains Momentum ⚒️

Following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, adding Guehi to the squad would mark another major step in what is shaping up to be an exciting summer for the Reds.

With Paul Joyce also backing the club’s interest in the defender, all signs point to this deal gaining traction fast now that Liverpool have completed other priority signings.

👀 Could Guehi be the next to walk through the doors at Anfield? Stay tuned…
