Trusted journalist Paul Joyce has dropped a key update on Liverpool’s midfield plans – and it involves Stefan Bajcetic.
Despite speculation about another loan move, the 20-year-old Spaniard will remain at Anfield for the 2025/26 campaign. Unlike teammates Tyler Morton, who has sealed a switch to Lyon, and James McConnell, who is expected to head to Ajax, Bajcetic will continue his development under Arne Slot and the Reds’ coaching staff.
This decision isn’t just about squad depth. Keeping Bajcetic also helps Liverpool meet their homegrown quota for the Champions League. The youngster already has 22 senior appearances to his name – including a memorable goal against Aston Villa back in 2022 – and the club believe he can play an important supporting role in midfield.
With Ryan Gravenberch needing reliable cover in the holding role, Bajcetic’s presence is seen as vital, even with Wataru Endo and Curtis Jones capable of stepping in when required.
The challenge for the young midfielder now is clear: prove his fitness after missing pre-season through injury and show that he can fight his way into Slot’s first-team plans.
