Liverpool’s hopes of securing Alexander Isak this summer appear to be fading fast, with a respected journalist now suggesting that a deal is “highly unlikely” to happen.
The Newcastle United striker sparked huge speculation earlier this week when he revealed that certain “promises” made to him by the club had been broken. Newcastle swiftly hit back, insisting that no such agreement ever existed to allow the Swedish star to leave. Manager Eddie Howe later admitted that talks had taken place with the forward about his long-term future – comments that only fueled Liverpool fans’ curiosity.

According to Miguel Delaney in The Independent, Newcastle were initially open to handling Isak’s situation pragmatically, but the Swede’s attempt to push for an exit has backfired. Delaney explained that while players often try to force moves knowing clubs usually prefer not to keep an unsettled star, this approach may have damaged Isak’s chances of leaving.
“The mistake Isak made,” Delaney noted, “was turning what had been a business matter into an emotional one. Newcastle were prepared to be flexible, but now pride is involved – and that makes Liverpool’s chances of landing him very slim.”
