As speculation around Liverpool’s attacking line-up intensifies, former Reds striker John Aldridge has shared his thoughts on the club’s transfer direction—and he isn’t holding back.

With Luis Diaz still at the center of transfer rumors, Aldridge believes Liverpool must do everything possible to keep hold of the Colombian winger. Bayern Munich recently tested the waters with a €100M offer, which was swiftly turned down by the club. However, with only two years remaining on Diaz’s contract and no new deal in sight, questions about his long-term future persist.

Aldridge warned: “Liverpool simply cannot afford to lose Diaz for nothing. Letting his contract wind down would be a mistake. The club must avoid another drawn-out situation like the one with Trent Alexander-Arnold.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool appears to be exploring options up front, following an approach for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak earlier this week. Reports also suggest the Reds have asked about Hugo Ekitike, currently with Eintracht Frankfurt and also on Newcastle’s radar.

When asked about the striker situation, Aldridge said: “The club needs to make a decision soon—if Nunez is replaced, who comes in? I think Alexander Isak would be a brilliant fit. He has all the attributes Liverpool need in a No.9, though prising him away from Newcastle won’t be easy or cheap.”

He added, “There’s a lot happening at the club right now, and the last thing they need is more instability. Diaz should be part of the future—I’d tie him down to a new contract.”

With pre-season preparations in full swing and the transfer window heating up, all eyes remain on Liverpool’s next move. Will the club go all in for Isak or Ekitike? And more importantly—will they secure Diaz’s future before it’s too late?
