Newcastle United’s dramatic 3-2 defeat to Liverpool has sparked yet another refereeing debate — and this time, Joelinton finds himself at the center of it.

According to a PGMOL insider, the Brazilian midfielder was “fortunate” not to face disciplinary action for a reckless moment earlier in the game, just minutes before Anthony Gordon’s dismissal.

Gordon saw red following a dangerous lunge on Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk late in the first half, but officials are now under scrutiny for seemingly overlooking Joelinton’s challenge beforehand.

The claim has fueled discussion among fans and pundits, many suggesting Newcastle could easily have been reduced to nine men had the referee acted differently.

With VAR already under fire after several high-profile controversies this season, questions are once again being raised about consistency in decision-making at the highest level of English football.
