Liverpool’s summer signing Jeremie Frimpong has suffered yet another frustrating injury setback, adding to the club’s growing concerns this season.
The Dutch right-back, who joined from Bayer Leverkusen in a £29.5 million deal, has been ruled out for the next six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury.
Frimpong had already missed a spell earlier in the campaign with a similar problem, and this latest issue means he’ll spend more time in the treatment room rather than on the pitch.
The 24-year-old was one of Liverpool’s first arrivals during their record-breaking £416 million summer rebuild, signed to fill the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s positional switch.
Despite a promising start — including a goal in the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace — Frimpong’s debut season has been overshadowed by repeated fitness problems. So far, he has managed just one full 90-minute appearance for the Reds in the Carabao Cup, and fans are beginning to worry about his long-term durability.
Manager Arne Slot will now have to reshuffle his defensive options once again, with Liverpool already struggling to maintain consistency amid injuries and poor form.
