Liverpool may be closing in on their next major signing of the summer.
According to fresh reports, the Reds have reached an agreement on personal terms with Hugo Ekitike, the talented French striker currently on the books at Eintracht Frankfurt. The deal is said to span six years, signaling Liverpool’s firm intention to add firepower to their attacking line.
🔁 Ekitike Says YES to Anfield
French journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports that Ekitike has made his intentions clear—he wants to join Liverpool and has already turned down a move to Manchester United in the last 24 hours. Talks are reportedly ongoing between Liverpool and Frankfurt, who signed the 23-year-old from PSG just last year.
Although a final fee hasn’t been agreed yet, it’s understood that Liverpool could be facing a bill north of €80m (£69m). Some outlets even suggest Frankfurt may demand a sum close to Ekitike’s €100m (£86.4m) release clause.

Hawkins revealed on X (formerly Twitter):

Respected journalist David Ornstein also confirmed Liverpool’s interest, noting that personal terms will not be a stumbling block and that Ekitike is open to making the switch to Anfield.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s long-standing interest in Alexander Isak seems to have hit a wall. Newcastle United are digging in their heels, refusing to entertain offers for the prolific Swedish forward. Isak netted 23 goals last season and remains central to Eddie Howe’s plans, especially with Champions League football secured for the upcoming campaign.
Although the Reds had hoped to tempt Newcastle with a huge offer—reportedly over £120m—the Tyneside club aren’t budging. Unless Liverpool break the bank with a bid that forces a rethink, Isak is staying put.
