After Egypt’s dramatic 3–1 extra-time win over Benin in the Africa Cup of Nations Last 16, Mohamed Salah didn’t just make headlines for his late winning strike — he also created a funny and memorable off-field moment.
The Liverpool icon, who delivered the decisive goal in the 124th minute to send the Pharaohs into the quarter-finals, attracted attention again in the dressing room area.
A player from Benin approached Salah to ask for his match-worn shirt, which had been ripped during the intense contest. Always gracious and respectful, Salah smiled and told him he’d hand it over in the changing room — and even saved his number to make sure it would find its way to him.
Shortly afterwards, another Benin player made the same request — only to be met with Salah’s playful reply: “Your friend already booked it first.” 😄
The exchange — humble, humorous, and showing respect for the opposition — quickly won praise from fans, highlighting the Egypt captain’s character as much as his winning performance.
