Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk wasted no time welcoming Hugo Ekitike with a firm message: “The real work begins now.”
The French forward officially joined the Reds this week after a high-profile move from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the deal reportedly worth around £69 million, potentially rising by another £10m through performance-related bonuses.
Ekitike, 23, becomes the fifth major signing for Arne Slot’s Liverpool this summer, following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Florian Wirtz.
The new signing linked up with his teammates during Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Asia, joining the squad in Hong Kong as they prepare for a friendly against AC Milan.
