Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has issued a bold warning to manager Arne Slot — urging him to make a big call on Mohamed Salah after another disappointing display in Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Anfield. The Reds slumped to their fourth straight defeat, with Harry Maguire netting the late winner after Cody Gakpo had levelled earlier. For Salah, however, it was another frustrating afternoon — two missed chances and no non-penalty goals in his last seven Premier League matches, his longest drought since joining Liverpool.Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, Carragher didn’t mince words:> “We’re at the point where Salah shouldn’t automatically start every week. This is becoming a real dilemma for the manager.”He further explained on Sky Sports that Salah’s recent performances don’t justify his guaranteed place in the starting XI.> “I don’t think he should be treated like Van Dijk — as the first name on the team sheet,” Carragher said. “Liverpool have two tough away games coming — Frankfurt in the Champions League and Brentford in the league. I don’t think Salah should start both.”Carragher believes Salah still has the quality to shine at Anfield, but suggests that on the road, where defensive work rate matters more, the Egyptian could use a short break.> “He should always start at Anfield — that’s where he thrives. But away from home, with his current form, maybe it’s time for him to sit one out,” he added. When asked if Salah would accept being benched, Carragher admitted it would be hard for the 33-year-old to take:> “Would he like it? Probably not. But when you reach a certain stage in your career, and you’re not performing, you can’t really argue.”Carragher’s comments have sparked massive debate among fans — is it time for Arne Slot to finally rest Liverpool’s Egyptian King? 👑
