Liverpool may have taken maximum points from their first two Premier League fixtures, but club legend Jamie Carragher insists the performances haven’t been convincing—and singled out three players he believes have struggled badly.

Arne Slot’s men opened the campaign with a 4-2 comeback victory over Bournemouth before edging Newcastle 3-2 in dramatic fashion at St James’ Park, thanks to 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha’s 100th-minute winner.
But Carragher, speaking on Monday Night Football, argued that the results have disguised some worrying individual displays, with defensive lapses and wasted opportunities almost costing Liverpool dearly.

🗣️ Carragher’s Harsh Verdict
Carragher didn’t hold back, highlighting Milos Kerkez, Ibrahima Konaté, and Mohamed Salah:
Kerkez – The summer signing has looked nervous since arriving, struggling against Bournemouth and failing to challenge Bruno Guimarães for Newcastle’s first goal.
Konaté – Caught out by a long ball that led to Will Osula’s equaliser, Carragher accused him of being “all over the place.”
Salah – Despite providing the assist for Ngumoha’s late strike, Carragher described the Egyptian as quiet and far from his usual influential self.
Carragher even admitted:

The ex-Liverpool defender went further, branding the match “one of the worst performances by a winning side” while praising Newcastle’s spirit despite the loss.
For Carragher, Liverpool’s six points are welcome, but the manner of their victories raises serious questions about consistency, especially when letting 2-0 leads slip in consecutive games.
